About Finance Notch
A comparison site for the money apps and accounts that people, freelancers and small businesses sign up for.
Last updated 29 October 2026
What we cover
11 categories, each compared separately for the United States and the United Kingdom: invoicing & accounting, payroll, business bank accounts, expense cards, neobanks, sending money abroad, investing apps, tax apps, budgeting apps, credit builders, savings accounts.
Much of the money-app market is aimed at people with thin credit files, irregular freelance income or a new business. Those readers are who our guides are written for.
Why US and UK pages are separate
An account that suits a sole trader in Leeds may not exist in Ohio, and the protections differ too: FDIC insurance through a partner bank is not FSCS cover, and e-money safeguarding is neither. So each comparison exists once per market, in that market’s currency, and the two link to each other.
What makes the lists different
Every figure is read from the provider and dated, and every list is ordered by a calculator you can rerun with your own numbers. Gaps in what a provider publishes are shown as gaps.
Who we are
